A NAME WHICH IS ABOVE EVERY NAME

Philipians 2:9-11

As I thought on what to give this morning I was lead to consider the names of Christ. I have always looked forward to preaching on this subject because truly the name of Jesus is so sweet. He is called by so many names; He carries many titles and does so much for us. I want us to consider the name of Jesus I want to give you the outline I have prepared this morning because it is a birds eye view of the blessed Lord Jesus. The more messages I preach the more I see the importance of preaching Jesus. My main responsibility is to challenge people to draw close to the Lord. My prayer is that this message would cause you to draw close to him. We have many scriptures to consider so having the outline will help you to be able to follow along.

As a born again child of God we should have no stronger desire than to know him.

Paul said

Phi 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

Peter said

2Pe 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

2Pe 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that [pertain] unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

The Psalmist David

Psa 8:1 <To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of David.> O LORD our Lord, how excellent [is] thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

Our Lord said

Isa 42:8 I [am] the LORD: that [is] my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

Psa 24:7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

Psa 24:8 Who [is] this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.

I think likely there have been more songs written about the names and titles of Jesus than any other person in history. To name a few

1. The name of Jesus is so sweet

2. Does Jesus Care.

3. Halleluiah what a Saviour

4. Isn’t he wonderful

5. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus

6. More about Jesus

7. My Jesus, I love thee

8. The Lily of the valley

Who is this king of Glory ? This morning let us consider the titles and names of our blessed Lord. My gift to you this is that we would remember just who he is.

On Christmas morning he was

A babe in a manger the virgin born son of God

He is so much more than that today

Isa 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, [there is] no beauty that we should desire him.

Isa 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were [our] faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Isa 53:4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

Isa 53:5 But he [was] wounded for our transgressions, [he was] bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace [was] upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Oh what Grace, Oh what glory, oh what Love. This morning let’s get acquainted with this man called Jesus.

Phi 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

Phi 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth;

Phi 2:11 And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

And By the way if your blesser gets blessed it’s okay to shout amen to the glory of God. If your blesser is broken then come to him who is the healer of the broken hearted. As I sit here preparing this outline I can hardly contain my self . My desire is to left up his name in all the earth.
